The female Bosnian basketball national team defeated the favourite team Japan today and have for the first time in history qualified for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup!
This cup will be held in Australia between the 22nd September and the 1st of October 2022.
Jonquel Jones is a Bahamian-Bosnian professional basketball player and is one of the best players in the world. She plays for the Connecticut Sun, WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) and was drafted as the 6th overall pick in the draft held by WNBA in 2016. Jones was born in Bahamas 1994, and acquired Bosnian citizenship in 2019, she carries the number 35 while playing for the Bosnian national team and has contributed tremendously to the Bosnian success over the years.
The Bosnian selector Goran Lojo is responsible for bringing the superstar Jones to play for B&H. He said he was looking for ‘a characteristic player, who is also having great human traits along with great talent as a player.’
Bosnia & Herzegovina is a country that brings up #strong #women. Another Bosnian (former) women’s basketball player is Razija Mujanovic – she was elected to the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2017 and voted the best female European basketball player three times by the Italian magazine La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Women are the driving #force behind changing perception and values about our country and among our people within and outside the B&H boarders; strong and ambitious women will help us overcome current obstacles and unite us a nation.
